Ker Place is located at 69 Market Street in Onancock, Virginia. 

Open March – December, Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. We are now closed to daily tours and will reopen on Saturday, March 20, 2010.

Windsor Chair Making Classes 

March 1-5, taught by John Robinson, master chair maker.

Annual Meeting 

March 17th , keynote speaker: Mr. Bernard Fishman, Executive Director, Rhode Island Historical Society. Held at the Market St. Methodist Church in Onancock and $25 a person.

Quilt Making Class

April 6, 8, 13, & 15.  Instructor:  Lois Sprague, held at the Onancock School, $250 includes quilt top fabrics.

20th Century Farm Life in Accomack County

April 10th , Lee Bloxom will present her oral history research project on farm life in Accomack County in years past.

Samuel D. Outlaw Blacksmith Shop and Demonstration

May (TBA), Friday night – a tribute to Samuel D. Outlaw at Ker Place. Saturday – blacksmithing demonstrations will take place in the old Outlaw blacksmith shop on Boundary Avenue in Onancock.

Old Work Boats of the Eastern Shore of Virginia

June (TBA). Dr. Paul Ewell will present his extensive study of old skipjacks, deadrise crab and oyster boats.

Floor Cloth Painting Class

September (TBA). Miriam Riggs, instructor. Complete a door mat sized floor cloth with a historic pattern. $85 includes materials.

Observations & Discoveries from the Early South – Symposium

October 22-24. Once again the Society attracts nationally renowned experts on preservation, material culture and historic architecture. $450, limited space make your reservations now.

Holiday Open House

December 11th. Holiday entertainment for the entire family. Children’s games, historic toys and activities of earlier times. Music and refreshments at 2-6:00 at Ker Place.
